Kate Hursthouse

Kate Hursthouse is a New Zealand artist and mother who runs her creative business from her home studio in Te Atatū Peninsula. Her vibrant abstract artworks explore the idea of contained chaos, pushing the limits with colourful layers of ink, pattern and abstract marks. Her work reflects the feelings and emotions that live within us, acknowledging that beauty can always be found amongst the chaos, even in the smallest of things. Her art has become her place of calm and joy, and her goal is to help other women find their own inner joy and calm through colour and creativity.
With a background in architecture and design, Kate has been running her creative business since 2014 where her work has taken a number of forms over the years, from contemporary artworks and commercial illustrations to an illustrated children’s book and large scale hand-painted murals. As well as undertaking private commissions, Kate has worked with and created artwork for a wide range of businesses and brands and has exhibited in New Zealand and internationally. A highlight of her career so far has been creating artworks that were gifted to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and the Māori King Kiingi Tūheitia.
