WWF-New Zealand’s Whale Tales, the incredible immersive public art trail celebrating Aotearoa, art, and marine conservation, adorned Auckland’s public spaces this summer and now these magical Tails have found their forever homes.
Each of the 80 Tails told their own tale and creative vision – one inspired by the Hauraki Gulf, and its majestic resident, the Bryde’s whale. This magnificent mammal lives in our waters year round but, unfortunately, they’re also vulnerable to ship strikes, plastic pollution, unsustainable fishing which has left Bryde’s nationally critical.
Total takings from the auction night was over $650,000, which will help fund WWF-New Zealand‘s vital work to protect Aotearoa’s marine environment and its taonga species, including the Bryde’s whale.
