Design Inspiration

Niue, known as the Rock of the Pacific, is a popular stop for whales during their migration journey through the Pacific each year. They are protected and live within Niuean myths and legends as creatures who are to be respected and taken care of. This design incorporates traditional Hiapo designs using indigenous flora and fauna, paying tribute to the balance of health between the land and sea. The same connection between keeping the balance of Papatūānuku and Tangaroa in Auckland is equally important in regards to providing a safe place for whales and creatures of Tangaroa to thrive.
