Schools

Have a Whale of a time by taking part in our learning programme.

WWF WHALE TALES LEARNING PROGRAMME PACKAGE

The WWF Whale Tales learning programme will be offered free of charge. Schools and community groups are invited to register their  interest in being part of the programme now, with further information  and resources provided over the coming months. The programme will be  designed for primary and intermediate schools (children between 5 and 13  years of age) but registrations outside of this age group are welcomed.

The Learning Programme Package will include

•A cross-curricular learning resource pack with lesson plans, classroom  templates and activities.
•Invitations and opportunities to participate in WWF Whale Tales events  and activities especially created for schools involved in the project.
•A Schools Co-ordinator who will help you get the most out of your  participation in the WWF Whale Tales event.

In addition to the package outlined above, Auckland schools and community groups are invited to purchase a mini whale tail sculpture to bring to life

Schools and community groups outside of Auckland who are able to arrange  transport of their tail to and from Auckland as required are also welcome to  be part of this aspect of the programme.

Mini whale tail sculptures are currently offered at cost price – $1,000 +  GST – with Resene, our Paint & Colour Partner, generously providing paint and brushes for your young artists.

Your mini whale tail will be exhibited as part of the high-profile, Auckland-wide art trail (and will also feature on the WWF Whale Tales app, trail map, website, social channels and virtual trail). At the conclusion of the event, it  will be returned to you to keep forever!

Given the timeline for production and migration of mini whale tails to New Zealand, we only have a finite number of sculptures. Priority will be given to  those schools and groups who are able to pay for/arrange to fundraise for a  tail, but we do have a number of sponsored tails which will be allocated on a  first come, first served basis.
